Okinawa’s Beautiful “Secret” Beaches

Warning: Serious wanderlust may occur if you read any further!!!!

This past weekend, Ben and I uncovered two relatively unknown and “secret” beaches in Okinawa. We were sick and tired of hitting the same stretches of sand so using our ultimate travel guide (aka Instagram) we discovered the tiny beaches below. Oddly enough, the second location was actually the first beach we ever visited on Okinawa. It’s insane that we completely forgot about this hidden gem for over two years! The other beach, the first one listed (sorry for the sequential confusion), is featured in plenty of wanderlust inspiring instgram feeds. I’ve seen the same picture of it posted over and over. However, I’m not sure how many of these people actually explored any further than the cascading stairway and enjoyed the beach below! Besides it’s beautiful blue water and bright green algae (such a stunning contrast) it had an enormous beach cave which Ben enjoyed exploring. I poked my head into it, but I’m a pretty big wimp and was too scared to go in much further - I take all costs possible to avoid bats and cave spiders!!!

For the first time this year Ben and I slipped on our super unsightly but necessary water shoes and waded through the warm East China Sea waters. The wildlife was abundant per usual, we were able to see plenty of corals, sea cucumbers, starfish, sea urchins, fish and crustaceans! This day truly felt like we were on a tropical vacation and I’m really looking forward to more summer days spent like this one.

These two beaches looked outrageously picturesque even at dreaded low tide.... Now that says something! Ben and I are definitely keeping these two beaches in our back pockets for when we’re in the mood to enjoy a bit of paradise. Until next time, thanks for dropping by!

Wow these beaches are gorgeous! I love when you can find spots that are not on everyone's radar.

I so wish I could just hop on a plane and visit these beaches for memorial day weekend. I honestly think you should write a travel guide for american's that might come to the island.

You wasted my time with this stupid blog... maybe share the location if your going to blog and stop being selfish. You'll get no where with a mentality like that. Good luck.

Whoa.... Marcus was having a bad day. dang. Don't mind them.
I loved the pictures. It made me excited cause I am going to Okinawa in August. I’m pretty excited to do some exploring myself. The looking around on Instagram is a good idea!

Oh, and I took a gander at other postings. Like the Military life, thoughts and opinions. I am 3 months into this separation and got, well, hopefully (fingers crossed), 9 months still to go. Can't even think about future long-distance moments to come. Ughhh.
But, it’s kind of reassuring to hear others having to deal with it as well. I know it can always be worse, so I appreciate the fact we got our health and internet access. haha, anyways,

Thanks for sharing!
