Sunabe Seawall, Oodomari Beach, Sunset Beach Summer Firework Festival and Seaside Café Hanon
This weekend we spent almost all of our time exploring Okinawa's world class coral reefs and sea life. Scuba diving still hasn't sparked enough interest for either Ben nor I, but we absolutely love free diving. No heavy gear is required, you just strap on your goggles and go!
Ben and I finally attended our first festival which was the Chatan Seaport Festival. We watched a Hula performance as well as a Japanese band, saw the sun set, drooled over the delicious food that was being sold, and then finished the night off with fireworks! One of the coolest parts of this event was that many Japanese locals were dressed in their traditional kimonos. They came in all different colors and patterns and were absolutely gorgeous. I wish I had gotten some pictures, but I didn't want to be an obnoxious tourist 😬
We visited the Seaside Cafe Hanon on the seawall for coffee one day this weekend. It was so kawaii (cute) that I needed to document it. We will definitely be back, especially since the purple sweet potato pancakes looked INCREDIBLE!
Thanks for dropping by and stay tuned for more Oki adventures!
We're Kara, Ben and baby Zoe also known as the Lesniaks. We’re a Marine Corps family currently stationed in Yorktown, Virginia after a three year tour in Okinawa, Japan. Enjoy our adventures, travels, photos, thoughts, and life together!
