Who doesn’t like a good birth story, am I right?? Oh. Not you? Whelp. Keep scrolling, Karen! The Okinawa goodness is just a few posts below. For those of you who are sticking around though, let’s dive right into this chaos.
Also, this post is definitely TMI and maybe a bit gross, so please skip if you’re squeamish!

We all grew up well aware that with warmer Spring weather comes plenty of rain fall. “April showers bring May flowers” as they say, however when you live on a subtropical island “showers” are replaced by a seemingly never ending monsoon season. It’s been a nonstop mix of rain, clouds and thunderstorms for the past few weeks and even though I’ve lived through two other Okinawan Springs by now this one is driving me especially crazy.
WOW! I’m so so so excited because one of my favorite bloggers, Whimsical September by Erica DeSpain, recently did a feature on my blog! If her post brought you to my site, welcome! I’ve always wanted to grow my blog presence/share my Okinawa life and I am incredibly grateful that Erica features up and coming bloggers like myself.
It's hard to believe but Ben and I are halfway done our three year tour in Okinawa. That means we've got only 18 more months to soak up all of the beauty, culture, food, entertainment, and adventure that this island and Asia have to offer. While we are definitely getting excited for our eventual move back to the states, we're also starting to get quite nervous about leaving our beloved island behind. All of our first memories as husband and wife have been created on Okinawa so there is definitely some serious nostalgia for this place . I can't wrap my head around the fact that once we PCS ("move" in military terms) we'll most likely say goodbye to Oki forever. It's a sad thought, but we keep reminding ourselves that there's a lot more memories to be made and fun to be had once we move to the states. Ben and I are just praying that this next year and a half goes a bit slower than the first.... Just a tiny bit....
For our first Christmas as husband and wife, Ben and I decided to forgo our usual gift exchange and instead we mutually decided on something that both of us have been pining over since we got on island: a DSLR camera. Since our "honey-versary" (honeymoon and anniversary) cruise is coming up extremely soon, there was really no reason not to make this purchase! We managed to find a really awesome deal at our military PX on a Canon Rebel T6 DSLR camera which came with multiple lenses, a carrying case, a camera strap and the store threw in a memory card and tripod for free! Needless to say, Ben and I feel like we got a pretty sweet deal. Merry Christmas to us ☺
