Sunabe Seawall, Oodomari Beach, Sunset Beach Summer Firework Festival and Seaside Café Hanon
This weekend we spent almost all of our time exploring Okinawa's world class coral reefs and sea life. Scuba diving still hasn't sparked enough interest for either Ben nor I, but we absolutely love free diving. No heavy gear is required, you just strap on your goggles and go!
I've mentioned this before, but there really isn't much of a night life scene in Okinawa. The service members have early curfews/hours they need to stop drinking and the locals don't seem to be too interested in the bar scene. For these reasons, I honestly haven't been to a bar at night since we got here four months ago... I know that sounds insane for a 23 year old, but on Okinawa it's really not that unusual.
About two miles away from our house, nestled off of ultra busy route 58, is a small little park named Mori no Kawa. It is the site of a massive concrete slide, what Ben referred to as the "worlds largest kitty litter box", and a few tennis courts, and jungle gyms.
We're Kara, Ben and baby Zoe also known as the Lesniaks. We’re a Marine Corps family currently stationed in Yorktown, Virginia after a three year tour in Okinawa, Japan. Enjoy our adventures, travels, photos, thoughts, and life together!
