I'm Kara Lesniak and the handsome man who has swept me off my feet (both literally and figuratively) pictured above is my husband Ben. We are 20 something "outside-of-Philadelphians" who met at the University of Pittsburgh. In October 2011 we began dating, we married in December 2015, and then in March of 2016 the Marine Corps sent us to our first permanent duty station in Okinawa, Japan. For the full "how we met" story (let me tell ya, it's a good one) click here.
Since arriving on island we've added two rescue cats, Kitsune and Kuroi, to our little family. They're the reason we can't have anything nice... I'm still bitter that they broke two of my Lenox coffee mugs... But we wouldn't trade their furry companionship and endless entertainment for anything. In addition to new family members, a few months into our Oki tour I began a new job with Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) and Ben promoted to 1st Lieutenant in the Marine Corps. When we aren't working or obsessing over our cats, we're either travelling Asia, exploring every inch of Okinawa or occasionally trying to find a moment to relax. Life has certainly been a nonstop adventure since we moved to a foreign country!
Our blog consists of our Okinawan adventures, travels throughout Asia, all things military life (PCSing/living on base/training exercises/weird things about this lifestyle - you name it), family updates, and anything else that happens to cross our minds. Please enjoy our personal thoughts, opinions, and plenty of my attempted "artsy" photographs while we figure out life halfway around the world.
